On Robert Kelly’s Doorstep
The book is out and available here https://www.lulu.com/shop/paul-larkin/on-robet-kellys-doorstep/paperback/product-7kkz25k.html
I’ve recognised that I am in a bit of creative high just now and have completed chapter 1 of my next book (details released on January 1, 2025)
I’ve deliberately not released ORKD on Amazon or Kindle or Amazon Kindle. I know for some that’s all they want, to see their book beside Peter Crouch and James Patterson but for me I want folk to cherish the book in the way they would a vinyl album (that should give you an insight into my audience)
The medium matters to me.
I actually got my first large print book on Thursday (Shakespeare by Bill Bryson) because the old eyes aren’t what they used to be and I’m positive staring at screens all day hasn’t help that (Yes, I get the irony here)
I do read some via the Kindle app (mostly footballer autobiographies that are available for 99p) but I am proud of my actual books and the covers. I used to go to Waterstones on Princes Street in Edinburgh and see all the books in front of me and think “why would I buy book A over book B” as most were in pastel colours, had the author’s name as prominent as the title and were all exactly the same size.
I’ve tried to mix up my book covers, sizes and so on. As an independent writer, you have to stand out.
I hope this one does now.
