Only Celtic
Gordon Strachan used to say Celtic were the only club in the world who could have a crisis in July. Well it’s July and I don’t think Celtic are in crisis but the plane is definitely circling its runway.
Brendan Rodgers has blocked the transfers of Marco Tillio and Yang in the last few days. Neither of these players should be anywhere near the first team so you know it’s a point he’s making and the point is is he’s fed up with how Celtic handle recruitment.
He was mightily pissed off in January when Kyogo was sold and not replaced but this is a far worse situation. Celtic need strengthening all over the pitch although the one person who appears not to see that is Dermot Desmond. Quite why he thinks that is beyond me short of simply refusing to spend money.
With Peter Lawwell seemingly out in the cold, Desmond has taken a bigger hand in things and they aren’t exactly going swimmingly. The stadium continues to creak and the only improvements this summer have been solely for the players and directors. The supporters needs don’t seem to matter to Dermot.
Meanwhile we rumble on with no apparent transfer strategy and a squad far weaker than last season.
The date we need to keep an eye on is August 14th when the squad for the Champions League qualifier needs submitted.
If that squad has no new signings in it; then Gordon Strachan might start quoting August as well.

He certainly does seem to be the blockage in the system !
